"Reserved error (-7713)" in Access using linked ODBC tables
Issue:
Historically when Access encountered a connection issue to an ODBC source, you would have to restart Access to reestablish the connection. An update was created to detect lost connections and reestablish them on next use and was released with the MSI update KB 3115501 in May 2017 and included with Office 365 builds starting with build 1611. A product issue has been found with this change which may result in any of the following symptoms.
- Reserved error (-7713): there is no message for this error
- The expression on click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error : object invalid or no longer set
- Controls displaying #name? instead of value
- Access crash
