Use these procedures to expire and reactivate a software update and software update bundles in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository. There are no limitations to the number of times that you can expire and then reactivate a software update or bundle within the Updates Publisher 2011 repository. However, if you want to remove a custom software update or bundle from Configuration Manager, you must first mark it as expired in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository, and then publish it as expired to get it marked as expired in Configuration Manager. After a software update or bundle is expired in Configuration Manager, you can no longer deploy or reactivate it.
To expire software updates and software update bundles
In the Updates Publisher 2011 console, click Updates. The workspace is displayed at the bottom of the navigation pane in the console.
Locate the software update or bundle that you want to expire using the following methods:
Click All software updates to display all the software updates and bundles in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository.
Click a manufacturer folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to the manufacturer.
Click a product folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to a product of a manufacturer.
Use Search to list only those software updates and bundles that include the search term.
Select the software updates and bundles to expire. To find out which software updates and bundles can be expired, sort the displayed software updates and bundles by using the Expired column. Software updates and bundles that are listed showing No in this column can be expired.
On the Home tab, click Expire, and then confirm that you want to expire the software updates and bundles that you selected.
Note
- The software updates and bundles that you selected are now tagged as expired in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository. However, you must still publish them to WSUS to change their status to expired in your environment.
- After a detectoid is published, it cannot be expired.
