Элемент FormView управления вызывает ItemUpdating событие при нажатии кнопки Обновить (кнопка со свойством CommandName "Обновить") в элементе управления, но до того, как FormView элемент управления обновит запись. Это позволяет предоставить метод обработки событий, который выполняет пользовательскую подпрограмму, например кодирование HTML или проверку значений записи перед ее обновлением в источнике данных при возникновении этого события.

Объект FormViewUpdateEventArgs передается методу обработки событий, который позволяет определить значение необязательного аргумента команды, отправляемого элементу FormView управления, и указать, следует ли отменить операцию обновления. Чтобы определить значение аргумента команды, используйте CommandArgument свойство . Чтобы отменить операцию обновления, присвойте свойству Cancel значение true. Если вам нужно получить доступ к исходным значениям полей ключа для обновляемой записи, используйте Keys свойство . Исходные значения неключевых полей можно получить с помощью OldValues свойства . Доступ к обновленным значениям (включая обновленные значения ключевого поля, если пользователь может изменять ключевые поля) можно получить с помощью NewValues свойства .
