The License code and configuration key reference contains topics that describe the license codes and configuration keys that are available in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. Use license codes and configuration keys to enable and disable features and functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
How to use license codes and configuration keys
When you purchase Microsoft Dynamics AX, all functionality is included. By default, some features and functionality that you do not use may be enabled. The administrator should disable the features that are not needed by disabling license codes and configuration keys.
When a license code or configuration key is disabled, the associated module or feature is removed from the user interface. Large sets of functionality, such as modules, are controlled by license codes. Many license codes, in turn, enable configuration keys that allow you to enable and disable functionality at a more detailed level.
Note
The license codes and configuration keys that are included in this reference are not part of the licensing model for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. They are used only to enable and disable functionality. For more information about licensing in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, see the Pricing and licensing guide and the Software licensing terms.
License codes can be added or removed in the License information form. (Click System administration > Setup > Licensing > License information.) Configuration keys can be enabled or disabled in the License configuration form. (Click System administration > Setup > Licensing > License configuration.)
Note
Features that are specific to a country or region are enabled and disabled based on the primary address of the legal entity. For more information, see Create or modify a legal entity.
