Purchase a Microsoft Protection Plan in the Surface Management Portal

Overview

The Protection Plan Purchase feature in the Surface Management Portal enables IT administrators to purchase Microsoft Protection Plans for eligible Surface devices without leaving the portal. The guided wizard helps you select devices, choose a plan, and submit a purchase request - all from within the Intune admin center.

Note

In the initial release, the Surface Management Portal doesn't process payments directly. When you submit a purchase request, it creates a sales lead that is routed to a Microsoft sales representative, who then contacts you to complete pricing, payment, and fulfillment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complete the purchase directly in the portal? In the initial release, the Surface Management Portal creates a purchase request that a Microsoft sales representative handles. Direct in-portal checkout is planned for a future release.

Why don't I see pricing for the protection plans? Pricing depends on device model, plan type, and your organization's agreement with Microsoft. In the initial release, exact pricing is provided by the sales representative during follow-up.

What's the difference between a warranty and a protection plan? A warranty is the Microsoft hardware limited warranty that comes with your Surface device at the time of purchase. A protection plan is a separate, paid coverage option that extends or enhances coverage beyond the original warranty.

Can I purchase Microsoft Protection Plans from the Surface Management Portal for devices outside the United States? The Protection Plan Purchase feature is initially available for US-based commercial Surface devices only. Support for other regions is planned for future releases.
