Although I am not sure that the Introduction to C++ and DirectX Game Development Jump Start is really a 100 level course, but it isn’t a 200 class either, so I would say it’s a 150 level. The nice thing about the training at the Microsoft Virtual Academy is that it doesn’t have click traps or a lot of commercials. (And yes, it is ONE big commercial, but no annoying pop-up ads.)
This great class is awesome and when you are done you have a nice shell that you can use to make a Windows Store app and have a solid understanding of the following:
- Introduction / Getting Started
- Preparing to Make a Game
- Picking the Right Tools
- What is Needed to Start
- What's New in Visual Studio 2013
- What DirectX Can Do and Creating the Main Game Loop
- Creating, Texturing, and Moving Objects
- Capturing User Input
- Physics and Collision Detection
- Adding AI and Other Extras to the Game
So jump over to this excellent training course, it comes with a short quizzes that are good feedback!
