Business value

The ability to apply different Global Warming Potential (GWP) greenhouse gas (GHG) Assessment Reports (ARs) to data sets lets you calculate emissions more accurately with the correct version of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Reports. It empowers you to make more informed decisions, improve your reporting and compliance, and ultimately enhance your overall business performance.

The capability to switch between the AR4, 5, and 6 factor sets within the calculation models themselves will allow our customers to generate more accurate calculations, therefore empowering them to improve their overall reporting and compliance with CSRD, etc.

Feature details

When calculating carbon emissions in the Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you can select a default GHG GWP Assessment Report (AR4, AR5, or AR6) set to use across all calculations, while still customizing to a different set as needed within a calculation profile. This capability allows you to generate more accurate calculations, therefore empowering you to improve overall reporting and compliance.

With this update, you'll be able to select Assessment Report sets within the following parts of the Sustainability Manager:

  • Change the default to AR4, AR5, or AR6 in the Settings page, then view in the Greenhouse gases page.
  • Select an AR set during profile creation on the Calculation profiles page.

This feature is enabled automatically when the release becomes available in your data center region.
