Business value

Data capture in Microsoft Sustainability Manager adds value to your organization by reducing the time needed to manually enter information from invoices, reducing human error in entering data, and creating the foundation needed to semi-automate invoice processing. Reduction of time spent and reduction in human error directly reduces your cost of business operations.

Feature details

With data capture in Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you use AI Builder to train an optical character recognition (OCR) model to detect key attributes from your facility-level scope 2 (purchased energy) invoices. After you train the model with at least five invoices from each provider, you may use the model to upload further invoices from these providers to Sustainability Manager as scope 2 activity data.

The data capture feature includes the following elements:

  • AI Builder model that contains necessary purchased energy fields and that you train with at least five invoices from each supplier.
  • A Document Intelligence form where you can review the extracted data and approve or reject the invoice.
  • Ability to re-upload or remove an invoice in the Document Intelligence form.

This feature is enabled automatically when the release is available.
