Description
Use this cmdlet to add a Windows Installer (MSI) deployment type to an application.
Note
Run Configuration Manager cmdlets from the Configuration Manager site drive, for example PS XYZ:\>
. For more information, see getting started.
Examples
Example 1: Add a deployment type
This command adds the Windows Installer deployment type named DTMsi from the specified location to the application named testMsi. This deployment type supports both English (United States) (en-US
) and Chinese (Simplified) (zh-CN
).
Add-CMMSiDeploymentType -ApplicationName "testMsi" -DeploymentTypeName "DTMsi" -ContentLocation "\\Server1\Applications\MSI\32BitSDK\32BitCompat.msi" -AddLanguage "en-US","zh-CN" -Comment "New Deployment Type"
Example 2: Add a detection method
This example adds a detection clause that requires a specific product ID and directory name to exist.
$app = Get-CMApplication -ApplicationName "CentralApp"
$guid = "9900a338-484b-4a18-884e-bce87654ce1b"
$clause1 = New-CMDetectionClauseWindowsInstaller -ProductCode $guid -Value -ExpressionOperator IsEquals -ExpectedValue "1.1.1.1"
$clause2 = New-CMDetectionClauseDirectory -DirectoryName "mymsi" -Path "C:\" -Existence
$app | Add-CMMsiDeploymentType -ContentLocation "\\myserver\mypath\mymsi.msi" -Force -AddDetectionClause ($clause1, $clause2)
Parameters
-AddDetectionClause
Specify an array of detection method clauses for this deployment type. To create a detection clause, use one of the following cmdlets:
- New-CMDetectionClauseDirectory
- New-CMDetectionClauseFile

- New-CMDetectionClauseWindowsInstaller
Save the output of these cmdlets into a variable. Then specify those variables as an array for this parameter. For example, -AddDetectionClause $clauseFile1,$clauseFile2,$clauseFile3
.
You can also use Get-CMDeploymentTypeDetectionClause to get an existing detection clause from another application.
