The following table summarizes the principal features and functionality provided by Office Communications Server 2007 R2, along with the server roles and clients they require.

In addition to the components described in the table, additional infrastructure components are required, such as Active Directory Domain Services and any components that might be required to support performance, availability, and fault tolerance requirements. For details about those components and their requirements, see Determining Your Infrastructure Requirements. Also, specific features may require deployment of additional components as prerequisites.
