Install SQL Server Reporting Services
Topic Last Modified: 2009-07-22
The Monitoring Server Report Pack can generate detailed reports using Monitoring Server data. This is an optional feature. To view these reports, you must install SQL Server Reporting Services; otherwise, the only way to see Monitoring Server data is to write your own SQL queries against the Monitoring Server databases.
If you use SQL Server 2005, you must use SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 with SP1 or SP2. If you use SQL Server 2008, you must use SQL Server Reporting Services 2008. For details about SQL Server Reporting Services, see Considerations for Installing Reporting Services at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=131042.
Additionally, if you use SQL Server 2005, to ensure that reporting works correctly you should install two SQL Server updates. For details about these updates, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 942662, "FIX: Message when you click the Back button in Internet Explorer 7 to return to a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report that contains one or more DateTime parameters: "Report is being generated," at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=136745, and Microsoft Knowledge Base article 940382, "FIX: The calendar control in a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report may display incorrect values," at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=136744.
The Monitoring Server Report Pack can be installed during the Monitoring Server installation process.
