Phase 3: Install a Pool
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.
Deploying servers of different versions in the same pool is not supported, and so performing rolling upgrades for each server in the pool is not supported.
After you have prepared the Active Directory Domain Services, it is time to deploy the first Office Communications Server 2007 R2 pool. If you are building an Enterprise pool, ensure that the back-end SQL Server database is prepared before you install and configure the new pool.
Important
If your environment requires compliance or monitoring features, before you move users to the new pool you must install, activate, and configure Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Archiving Server and Monitoring Server in the new pool.
