Monitoring Server
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.
Monitoring Server is an optional Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 server role that allows you to do the following:
View statistics related to media quality between locations or based on a grouping of subnets, and overall media statistics.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot media quality of experience issues and respond to VoIP customer-reported issues.
View trends that can help you with post-deployment growth and measure results against your service level agreement.
Monitoring Server collects quality metrics at the end of each VoIP call from the participant endpoints, including Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2, the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 R2 client, IP phones, A/V Conferencing Server, and Mediation Server. These quality metrics are aggregated and are stored in an SQL database for alerting and reporting purposes. The data collected is used to alert you about abnormal media quality conditions and to generate media quality reports.
