Organization Configuration > Client Access Node (RTM)

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007, Exchange Server 2007 SP1

The Client Access server role is one of the new server roles for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. You can use the Client Access node in Organization Configuration to maintain Exchange ActiveSync mailbox policies.

Exchange ActiveSync Policies

An Exchange ActiveSync mailbox policy is a group of settings that specify how a user or users can use their mobile device to connect to the Exchange server. There are a variety of settings that can be managed within the Exchange Management Console. To change settings for a specific Exchange ActiveSync mailbox policy, right-click the mailbox policy name, and then click Properties. The Properties window has tabs for viewing and updating the following information:

  • General
Use this tab to specify whether devices that cannot be provisioned are automatically allowed and whether attachments can be downloaded to devices.
  • Password
Use this tab to specify whether a password is required and to configure the following password options:

    • Whether passwords must be alphanumeric

    • Whether recovery is enabled

    • Whether encryption is required on devices

    • The number of failed password attempts allowed

    • Minimum password length

    • How long the device can go without user input before the password must be re-entered
