Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

This topic provides information about how to resolve the following issue on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

When you run certain cmdlets in the Exchange Management Shell, you receive error messages that resemble the following:

WARNING: An error occurred while accessing the registry of the specified server: "ServerName.contoso.com". The error message: "The network path was not found."

For example, you receive the previous error message if you run the Get-ExchangeServer -status command.

Cause

This issue occurs if the Remote Registry service is turned off.

To resolve this issue, turn on the Remote Registry service. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

  2. In the Services dialog box, double-click Remote Registry.

  3. In the Remote Registry Properties (Local Computer) dialog box, click Automatic in the Startup type list if this option is not already selected.

  4. Click Start.

  5. After the Remote Registry service has started successfully, click OK.
