Access the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site

This article describes how to access and use the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site. You can access the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site from any computer, using the logon authentication system that you established for the site. This is where you will configure Groove management settings. To test your Groove Server Manager configuration, visit the URL as described in the following section.

Before you begin

Before you start this procedure, install Groove Server Manager as described in Install Groove Server 2010 Manager.

Access the Groove Server Manager Web site

This procedure explains how to access your Groove Server Manager administrative Web site.

To access your Groove Server Manager administrative Web site, follow these steps

  1. Address the requirements in Before you begin.

  2. From an administrative computer, open an Internet Explorer (IE) browser that meets the requirements specified in System requirements for Groove Server 2010.

  3. Enter the URL for your new Groove Manager site (typically, http://<hostname>). Depending on your authentication system, a logon window may appear or the Groove Server Manager home page appears.

  4. If asked to log on, enter the Web site logon information that your authentication system requires. The Groove Server Manager home page appears.

  5. From the Groove Server Manager home page, navigate to the management pages that you need.

    Note

    To get help, click the Help icon at the upper-right of any Manager page.
    To specify the number of record items to display on a Groove Server Manager page, or to display the latest online Help content when you need Help, click the Preferences icon next to the Help icon.

Overview of the Groove Server Manager Web site

The Groove Server Manager administrative Web interface consists of a navigation pane on the left, and a main window. The navigation pane displays the Manager server name and the initial management domain automatically created for you. The Web page has the following user interface (UI) components:

Navigation tree

Appears in the navigation pane and displays member groups, policy templates, and relay server pools defined for a domain.

Main window

Reflects the current selection in the navigation pane.

Toolbar

Displays modal task icons at the top of the main window, reflecting current selections.

Preferences and Help icons

Links at the upper-right corner of the main window, for displaying Preferences and Help access, respectively.

Tabs

Modal tabs at the bottom of the main window, reflecting the selection in the navigation pane.

Server-level tabs

  • Reports – Lets you generate server event reports.

  • Roles – Lets you assign administrator roles.

    Note

    Assigned administrator roles may limit access to certain tabs and tasks.

Domain-level tabs

  • Reports – Lets you generate management domain event reports.

  • Domain properties – Lets you change authentication, certification, and other management settings.

  • Directory integration – Displays Active Directory (AD) forest field mapping and synchronization settings, if an Active Directory server was specified during Groove Server Manager installation.

  • E-mail – Lets you change account configuration e-mail information

  • Roles – Lets you assign domain-level administrator roles.

Members tabs

  • Members – Lists SharePoint Workspace users that have been added to the Groove Server Manager domain, and lets you change member properties, including policy template and Relay pool assignments.

  • Groups – Lets you manage groups of management domain members.

  • Reports – Lets you generate management domain member event reports.

Policies tabs

  • Templates tab - Lets you manage and create new policy templates.

  • Tabs for selected policy template:

    • Member policies – Lets you view or change policy template settings that affect SharePoint Workspace usage.

    • Security policies – Lets you view or change policy template settings that affect SharePoint Workspace client security.

    • Audit policies – Lets you view or change templates that affect the optional Groove Audit capability.

Relay Pools tabs

  • Relay Server Pools tab - Lets you manage and create new Relay pools.

  • Relay Servers tab for selected Relay server pool - Lets you manage and change properties for Relay servers in a pool.
