Backing Up the Group Chat Database, Compliance Database, and File Repository
Topic Last Modified: 2011-07-13
You should regularly back up the Microsoft Lync 2010 Group Chat database and the compliance database. Contact the database administrator to determine how best to do this in your environment.
Important
Both the Microsoft Lync 2010 Group Chat database and the compliance database have separate file repositories.
The files posted in chat rooms are stored in a file repository, not in the database, and should also be backed up.
After you back up the Microsoft SQL Server database, follow these steps to back up the file repository.
To back up the files in the file repository
Log on to a computer that hosts the current installation of the Web service, by using the account that administers the server processes.
Go to the location of the directory that stores the file repository, which is determined at installation. For example, the default location is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2010\Group Chat Server\WebSvc\FileRepository\.
Leaving the original files intact, create a compressed file archive of everything in that directory.
