How to: Format an Image (Report Builder 1.0)

You can add images, such as logos, to your report layout. Once the image is added to the report, you can resize it to better fit the report design, add padding to the image area to better align the image with other report items, and add a border around the image.

To resize an image

  1. In the design area, select the image.

  2. On the Format menu, select Picture.

    Note

    Alternatively, you can right-click the image, click Format, and then select the Picture tab.

    The Format dialog box opens with the Picture tab selected.

  3. From the Sizing drop-down list, select the sizing property that you want to use when resizing the image.

    Note

    To resize the image, you must select Clip, Sized to Fit, or Fit Proportional depending on which method you want to use to resize the image.

  4. Click OK.

  5. In the design area, drag the handles of the image to resize it.

To add padding to an image

  1. In the design area, select the image.

  2. On the Format menu, select Alignment.

    Note

    Alternatively, you can right-click the image, click Format, and then select the Alignment tab.

    The Format dialog box opens with the Alignment tab selected.

  3. In the Padding area, specify the number of points that you want to pad the Left, Right, Top, and Bottom areas of the image.

    Note

    Padding is measured in points.

  4. Click OK.

To add a border to an image

  1. In the design area, select the image.

  2. On the Format menu, select Border.

    Note

    Alternatively, you can right-click the image, click Format, and then select the Border tab.

    The Format dialog box opens with the Border tab selected.

  3. In the Style list, select a line style.

  4. In the Width list, select a line width.

  5. Select a line color.

  6. To apply a border around the entire image, click Outline.

    To apply a border to one side of the image, click the button that corresponds to the side of the image where you want to add a border. For example, if you want to apply a border to the top of the image, click the button that displays a horizontal line along the top of the image area.
