Manage workspace appearance settings

As a workspace admin, you can manage various settings related to the appearance of your workspace, including the workspace label, themes, date and time format, and language. Account admins can also set the workspace label from the account console.

Locate the appearance settings

The workspace appearance settings can be found in the admin settings within the Appearance tab.

Available appearance settings

These available settings include:

  • Workspace label: A colored pill displayed next to the workspace name in the top navigation bar.
  • Plotly: This setting determines whether the Plotly toolbar displays in chart visualizations. See Visualization tools.
  • AI/BI theme: Define a default theme for AI/BI dashboards, including canvas colors, visualization palettes, fonts, and alignment. See Manage AI/BI dashhoard workspace themes.
  • Language: Whether to enable multi-byte (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) search for query names and descriptions. When enabled, searches are slower.
  • Date format: The default date and time format used in query visualizations. To change date and time formats for an individual query visualization, see Common data types.
  • Time format: The default time format used in query visualizations.

Workspace label

A workspace label is a colored pill that appears next to the workspace name in the top navigation bar. Use it to distinguish between workspaces that would otherwise look identical, such as development, staging, and production environments.

Both workspace admins and account admins can set a workspace label. If both set one, the most recent change is the one that displays, as workspaces can only have one label at a time. Labels have a 30-character limit to keep the navigation bar readable.

Set a workspace label as a workspace admin

To set a label from within a workspace:

  1. Log in to the target workspace.
  2. Open the admin settings and go to the Appearance tab.
  3. Under Workspace, edit the Workspace label.
  4. Enter a label name, select a color, and click Save.

The label appears immediately next to the workspace name in the top navigation bar.

Set a workspace label as an account admin

Account admins can set workspace labels from the account console. This is typically used to enforce consistency across the account, for example by making all production workspaces the same color.

  1. Log in to the account console as an account admin.
  2. Click Workspaces in the left nav, then click the name of the workspace you want to update.
  3. Click Update workspace in the top-right corner.
  4. Under Configuration, enter a Workspace label and select a color.

The label appears immediately next to the workspace name in the top navigation bar.
