List appRoleAssignments granted to a service principal

Namespace: microsoft.graph

Retrieve the list of appRoleAssignment that have been granted to a service principal.

App roles that are assigned to service principals are also known as application permissions. Application permissions can be granted directly by creating app role assignments, or through a consent experience.

Note This request might have replication delays for app role assignments that were recently granted or removed.

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. For details about delegated and application permissions, see Permission types. To learn more about these permissions, see the permissions reference.

Important

In delegated scenarios with work or school accounts, the signed-in user must be assigned a supported Microsoft Entra role or a custom role with a supported role permission. The following least privileged roles are supported for this operation:

  • Guest Inviter - Read app role assignments for users only
  • Directory Readers
  • Directory Synchronization Accounts - for Microsoft Entra Connect and Microsoft Entra Cloud Sync services
  • Directory Writer
  • Hybrid Identity Administrator
  • Identity Governance Administrator
  • Privileged Role Administrator
  • User Administrator
  • Application Administrator
  • Cloud Application Administrator

HTTP request

You can address the service principal using either its id or appId. id and appId are referred to as the Object ID and Application (Client) ID, respectively, in app registrations in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
