DLT release 2024.40

These features and improvements were released with the 2024.40 release of DLT.

Databricks Runtime versions used by this release

Channel:

• CURRENT (default): Databricks Runtime 14.1
• PREVIEW: Databricks Runtime 15.4

Note

Because DLT channel releases follow a rolling upgrade process, channel upgrades are deployed to different regions at different times. Your release, including Databricks Runtime versions, might not be updated until a week or more after the initial release date. To find the Databricks Runtime version for a pipeline, see Runtime information.

New features and improvements in this release

• This release includes a change that reduces the time to transition a continuous pipeline to a new DLT release. This improvement means that your continuous pipelines can resume processing more quickly when they are restarted because DLT is updated with a new release.

• This release includes a change that improves the latency when you run a Validate update for a pipeline that contains Python source code. See Check a pipeline for errors without waiting for tables to update.

Bug fixes in this release

• This release fixes an issue that can sometimes prevent the DLT UI from updating to show the current status of a pipeline update.
