Hello, world

My name is Adam Singer, and I recently moved to the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina. I've joined the Visual Studio Team System group here as a Software Design Engineer in Test. While VSTS is a whole suite of new functionality, spanning every bit of the software development process from architecture to development, testing to deployment, I'm testing the source-code control component. More on that later, though.

For now, I'd like to give you a bit of my background: This past year, I graduated from Brown University for the second time in two years. That is to say that I got my Bachelor's in Computer Science in May, 2003, and my Master's in Computer Science this past spring. When I had time away from the CS department, I served as the systems supervisor for the computer help desk and developed several projects for the Center for Computing and Visualization (formerly the Technology Center for Advanced Scientific Computing and Visualization-- try fitting that on a resume...). I was also technology chair for my literary society and webmaster for Brown's Fantasy Gaming Society (devoted to "any and all misplaced reality" and sponsoring "interactive, collaborative narratives"). I also spent a few Summers as a JSP Developer at Upromise, Inc.

I joined the VS team in mid-August after a summer of backpacking 60 miles on the Appalachian trail, volunteering at a folk festival, and relaxing by a lake in western Maine. While it took a little while to get up to speed, I've rolled up my sleeves and jumped into the fray. As work continues, I'll post more technical features of what we're working on here and how it will affect software development.

Perhaps most excitingly, I got my home internet connection set up yesterday. It's good to be back in the world of the wired, let me tell you!
