UPDATE:  Fixed the links to the bits!

Hot off the presses this morning, a VPC containing the first CTP for Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0 were released to the public on Microsoft Connect.  The VPC is broken down into a TON of files, but Brian Keller has some instructions on his blog for those of you using a fancy download manager to make the download easier.  Also keep in mind this little note I got from the Product Team:

When you use the Visual Studio 2010 CTP VPC, you will encounter some Activation messages. In most cases, you can just ignore these messages and continue using the image. Read more about this and some workarounds in this post from Brian Keller titled Visual Studio 2010 CTP VPC: Dealing with Activation Messages.

They’ve also published the first in a a series of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0 overview articles for you to learn all about the new features – this first issue is called “ Democratizing Application Lifecycle Management .  There are also some videos posted on Channel 9 for your viewing pleasure.

Another nice announcement related to Developer & Database Team SKUs:

In recognition of the increased need to integrate more of the lifecycle members together, we will provide a unified Development and Database product in Visual Studio Team System 2010. Beginning October 1, 2008 Development Edition and Database Edition MSDN subscribers will have access to both products.

If you do download and install the CTP, make sure that you spend some time on the CTP forums.  Our feedback to the product team is CRITICAL to their ability to make this the most amazing version of Visual Studio yet, and these forums are a great place to share both the good times and bad times as we work together to refine this product.

Here's what I don't get... MSDN already has a download manager.   Why make us jump through these hoops?
