現有的 System.Uri 類別已擴充為支援以 RFC 3987 為基礎的國際資源識別碼 (IRI) 。 目前的使用者除非特別啟用 IRI，否則看不出與 .NET Framework 2.0 的行為有任何不同之處。 這可確保應用程式與舊版 .NET framework 相容。

的 IdnElement 組態設定是由控制 類別中 System.Uri IRI 處理的組態設定間接控制 IriParsingElement 。 必須啟用 IRI 處理才能進行 IDN 處理。 如果停用 IRI 處理，則 IDN 處理會設定為預設設定，此種情況下，.NET Framework 2.0 行為會用於相容性，但不使用 IDN 名稱。

國際化功能變數名稱 (IDN) 屬性只會控制 IDN 處理。 所有其他 IRI 處理 (字元正規化，例如預設會執行) 。

建構第一 System.Uri 個類別時，將會讀取 的 IdnElement 組態設定一次。 該時間之後的組態設定變更會被忽略。
