這個類別定義的屬性會將其他版本資訊附加至元件。

AssemblyInformationalVersionAttribute如果未套用至元件，則會改用 屬性所AssemblyVersionAttribute指定的版本號碼。

雖然您可以指定任何文字，但如果字串不是元件版本號碼所使用的格式，或該格式但包含通配符，則會在編譯時顯示警告訊息。 這項警告是無害的。

對於 Windows Forms 應用程式，您可以使用 屬性，取得此屬性在運行時間Application.ProductVersion指定的字串。 字串也會用於 屬性和 屬性所提供的 Application.UserAppDataPath 路徑和 Application.UserAppDataRegistry 登錄機碼中。
