在Web 組件控制項集的架構中，只有在控制項在區域內運作 WebPartZoneBase 時，控制項才能擁有Web 組件功能。網頁上要使用的標準 WebPartZoneBase 區域是 WebPartZone 控制項。雖然終端使用者可以在網頁上的不同區域之間移動Web 組件控制項，但控制項的指定實例一次只能位於一個區域中。 Web 組件控制項及其相關聯的 WebPartManager 控制項使用 Zone 屬性來追蹤控制項目前所在的區域，以及區域通用配置和樣式特性套用至所有包含Web 組件控制項。
