Good evening,
I am a student, and I am seeking clarification regarding an issue with Microsoft Word. I created my writing assignments using Microsoft Word 365 online, and I need to preserve the version history to demonstrate that my work belongs to me and that I did not use AI.
On December 12th, the last modified version of my document was at 6:41 pm. Between 6:41 pm and 7:08 pm (the time I submitted my work), I created the final paragraph and then copied and pasted my work onto the educational platform. It was a small paragraph that I wrote in one sitting (five sentences). After that, I left the document open. I usually have multiple pages open at once and rarely close them.
Two days later, on December 14th at 9:47 pm, I started working on another discussion question in the same document. The paragraph I had written previously was still present in the document.
However, I received a grade of 0, with the concern that I may have used AI. The issue appears to be that the last paragraph I wrote was shown in the version history as being created on December 14th, even though I wrote and submitted it on December 12th. I do not understand why the version history shows this date...
Additionally, I have noticed that the version history does not always show every small change. For example, if I delete sentences, add words, or correct grammar, the version history usually shows general changes and the latest ones, rather than every specific edit. This seems to mean that if I create a paragraph and make minor edits immediately they may not appear right away, but if I make changes hours later, they appear in version history.
Could you please advise on why this discrepancy might happen and how I can explain it to my instructor? I want to clarify that I created the paragraph on December 12th and did not use AI. It was a five sentence paragraph that I created in approximately 25 minutes on December 12th, but it appeared in the version history as created on December 14th, when I opened the document for the second time...
Thank you for your understanding and support.
