Since this forum is a public platform, I have modified your question to hide your personal privacy. For future posts, kindly avoid sharing personal or organizational information to protect your data.

Hello @Boetie Burger,

Thank you for responding.

Typically, once that option is unchecked, the “Get Add-ins” feature should become available; provided your organization allows it.

At this point, I recommend reaching out to your IT administrator to review the link I shared earlier and confirm whether any policy is blocking add-ins.

Find Your Microsoft 365 Admin: If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

If your IT administrator is unable to identify the cause, you need to ask them to help you raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center. I believe your case may require a deeper investigation from Microsoft’s advanced technical support team, as they have access to backend diagnostic tools and tenant‑level data.

  • To create a Support ticket, your IT admin can go to: Microsoft 365 admin center
  • When they click Help & Support in the bottom-left corner, a Support Assistance panel will appear.
  • In the text box, they can type: "request an agent to contact me via email or phone" and press Enter.
  • After that, please look at the bottom-left corner of the panel. They will see a blue link that says, "Contact Support"; they click on it.

  • They will then have two options: Support via phone or via email. They can choose Email.

Please follow this article: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

When the ticket is opened, a support engineer can start a remote session to investigate the issue, review the back-end settings, and optionally run a sync tool to resolve the issue.

I apologize for redirecting you to the support teams. As forum moderators, I have limited access to backend systems and cannot directly investigate device-level issues.

I truly hope you’ll be assisted soon by our dedicated technical team. And if you receive any updates or insights, please feel free to reply here.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello @Boetie Burger,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

After receiving your information, I’ve checked this on my test environment and found that the issue can occur if certain setting in the Trust Center is enabled. Please try the following:

    • In Word or Excel, you can go to File => Options => Trust Center => Trust Center Settings => Trusted Add-in Catalog.

    • You need to make sure this option are unchecked:

    undefined

When I tested and enabled this option, the get add-ins option in my Word or Excel also appeared greyed out:

Additionally, you also check Office Cloud Policy settings by:

If the issue still persists, please provide me more detail:

1.If the “Don’t allow any web add-ins” option is grey out, could you please share a screenshot of what you see?

2.Also, could you please let me know if this feature used to work for you before, or has it always been greyed out?

3.Since you selected the Business tag, I also want to confirm: are you using a work/school account that is managed by an organization, and not a personal Outlook.com or Hotmail account?

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to identify the root cause and find a solution.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

If the "Get Add-ins" option is greyed out in your Office 365 applications like Excel and Word, it could be due to Group Policy settings configured by your system administrator that disable add-ins. When this happens, you may see a message indicating that the add-in you selected is disabled by your system administrator.

To resolve this issue, you should contact your IT administrator to check the Group Policy settings that may be preventing the use of add-ins. If you have administrative rights, you can also check the settings yourself to ensure that add-ins are enabled.

Additionally, if your organization has blocked the Office Store or AppSource, this could also lead to the "Get Add-ins" option being unavailable. Your administrator can manage these settings in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

I unchecked block as you suggest but still greyed out. Yes I had previously access to add ins.

The link you provided say I do not have access to.

Thank you for your attention to this matter
