Una extensión de formato de descripción de servicio amplía la forma en que se genera una descripción de servicio para un servicio web XML creado mediante ASP.NET. En concreto, una extensión de formato de descripción del servicio agrega elementos XML a la descripción del servicio. Esto resulta útil cuando se crea una extensión SOAP para ejecutarse en el lado cliente y servidor de un servicio web XML, ya que la información sobre las extensiones SOAP no se coloca automáticamente en la descripción del servicio. Si agrega información sobre la extensión SOAP a la descripción del servicio, un cliente puede interpretar que debe ejecutar la extensión SOAP específica. Un ejemplo de una extensión SOAP que debe ejecutarse tanto en el cliente como en el servidor es una extensión SOAP de cifrado. Si una extensión SOAP de cifrado se ejecuta solo en el servidor y cifra los valores devueltos antes de devolverlos al cliente, el cliente debe tener la extensión SOAP en ejecución para descifrar el mensaje SOAP. De lo contrario, el cliente no puede procesar el valor devuelto.

Siga estos pasos para crear una extensión de formato de descripción del servicio:
