The following example shows how to write a basic logger that responds to build events.

Remarks

This abstract class provides default implementations for the methods and properties of the ILogger interface.

This class can only be instantiated in a derived form.

Constructors

Logger()

Initializes a new instance of the Logger class.

Properties

Parameters

Gets or sets the user-specified parameters to the logger. Derived class can ignore if it doesn't take parameters.

Verbosity

Gets or sets the level of detail to show in the event log.

Methods

FormatErrorEvent(BuildErrorEventArgs)

Generates a message in the default format from a BuildErrorEventArgs object.

FormatWarningEvent(BuildWarningEventArgs)

Generates a message in the default format from a BuildWarningEventArgs object.

Initialize(IEventSource)

Must be implemented by derived class to subscribe to build events.

IsVerbosityAtLeast(LoggerVerbosity)

Determines whether the current verbosity setting is at least the value passed in.

Shutdown()

Derived class should override if it needs to release any resources.
