Tato metoda implementuje System.IEquatable<T> rozhraní a funguje o něco lépe než Equals proto, že nemusí převést value
parametr na objekt.
Pokud value
má méně bitů (je užší) než typ instance, některé programovací jazyky provedou implicitní rozšiřující převod, který transformuje hodnotu parametru na hodnotu s více bity.
Předpokládejme například, že typ instance je Int32 a typ parametru je Byte. Kompilátor Jazyka Microsoft C# vygeneruje pokyny k reprezentaci hodnoty parametru jako Int32 objektu a pak vygeneruje metodu Int32.CompareTo pro porovnání Int32 instance a reprezentace parametrů.
