Overview of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation in healthcare data solutions (preview)

Segmenting patient population based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) data presents challenges due to its highly nested structure. To address this complexity, the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation capability in healthcare data solutions (preview) enables connecting Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data to your OneLake on Fabric. With this connection, you gain the capability to effortlessly create patient or member lists for outreach purposes. The capability goes a step further by flattening a set of FHIR resources, making them easily accessible and enabling efficient patient segmentation for outreach initiatives. The capability eliminates data compatibility challenges and reduces the need to extensively transform heavily nested FHIR data for patient segmentation.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data preparation is an optional capability under healthcare data solutions in Microsoft Fabric (preview). You have the flexibility to decide whether or not to use it, depending on your specific needs or scenarios.

Data capabilities

The preview release of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data preparation concentrated on mapping FHIR resources to tables that Customer Insights – Data can ingest. We selected the following set of tables based on popular marketing journeys among healthcare organizations. So, there could be one or more resources used by your organization that aren't supported in this release.

The connections between the tables demonstrate various relationships that could be established between resources.

Note

The relationships between the FHIR tables shown in the following diagram are suggested based on a sample implementation. You can have different implementations where some of these relationships aren't used. Ensure that you create these new relationships in the Customer Insights - Data instance.

You don't need to use all of these relationships to set up the capability. Only create the relationships that will aide your segmentation process.
