Insert Current Date

Hello,

I recently acquired Office 2016 but im having a hard time with an old hotkey i used to have.

I cannot insert the current date ( 10/27/2015 ) into my cells . Every time i use control + shift + semicolon it only pastes the actual hour.  command + shift + semilcolon does the same thing.

Is this a general thing or just my macbook pro?

thank you

Is your recollection based, perhaps, on experience with the Windows version of Excel?

    Current date: Press CTRL+SEMICOLON

    Current time: Press CTRL+SHIFT+ SEMICOLON

Current date and time: Press CTRL+ SEMICOLON then SPACE then CTRL+SHIFT+ SEMICOLON

The results I get seem to agree with the article "Keyboard shortcuts in Excel 2016 for Mac" at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Excel-2016-for-Mac-acf5419e-1f87-444d-962f-4e951a658ccd

It's not a general thing or your Macbook Pro. I think it is your memory. The keyboard shortcut for inserting a date in a cell is, and always has been control-semicolon.

Mine used to work perfectly on excel 2011, but as soon as i tried 2016, the function only inserts the hour.

What do you mean this is my memory?

Control + semicolon does not work it only inserts hour

commmand + semicolon does not work it only inserts hour.
