Insert Current Date

Hello,

I recently acquired Office 2016 but im having a hard time with an old hotkey i used to have.

I cannot insert the current date ( 10/27/2015 ) into my cells . Every time i use control + shift + semicolon it only pastes the actual hour.  command + shift + semilcolon does the same thing.

Is this a general thing or just my macbook pro?

thank you

Thank you for being an **** Bob. If you took the decency to read the post you will know that i already tried the hotkey several time with no work. You should restrain yourself from posting if you dont want to help.

Well, you are right Mike.... these are the officially posted shortcuts...

However, it just does not work. I have the same problem as Shackwell. The funny thing is that it worked with the pre-release of excel 2016. Now, I just get the current time in hours and minutes and it does not change anything if I apply the date format, press the fn-keys in addition to the previous mentioned keys or anything else.

I guess it is a bug... My excel is up to date....

    Any ideas?

In all fairness, Bob G's [only] reply was to your initial message, in which there was no mention of having tried Control+; . You made that point only in your response to his reply.

Make sure you have Office 2016 fully updated by going to Help> Check for Updates in the main menu of any Office program. [15.5 is the current version]. Also, confirm that your version of OS X is fully updated. Once all updates are confirmed:

    • If running OS X 10.10.5 run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions followed by a Restart
    • If running OS X 10.11.1 there is no user-generated permissions repair, just Restart
