Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear Allison,
Good day, and thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.
I'm sorry to hear about the unexpected change in your invoice, a sudden shift from $0.00 to $72.00 would understandably be concerning. As a forum moderator, I am not able to access your billing account or review the invoice details from my side. My role here is limited to providing general guidance and pointing you to the appropriate self-service or support channels. To help me point you in the right direction, a few details would be useful:
- What is the product name shown on the invoice?
- Is the $72 charge monthly, annual, or prorated?
- Were the two licenses previously covered by a free trial, grant, promotion, or billing credit?
- Did the subscription recently renew or change plans?
- Was it purchased directly from Microsoft or through a reseller?
Please do not post the invoice number, transaction ID, payment details, tenant name, or other private billing information in this thread.
If this is a business subscription, a Billing Administrator in your organization can review the invoice directly by going to:
Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Billing > Bills & payments
Select the invoice and review the following details:
- Product / SKU name
- License quantity
- Unit price
- Service period
- Taxes and fees
- Credits or adjustments
- Any recent purchases or renewals
A previous $0 invoice may have resulted from a free trial, grant, promotional credit, or prepaid service. Invoice totals can also change after licenses are added or removed, a subscription is renewed, or the billing period changes.
If, after reviewing the invoice, the charge still looks unexpected, you can open a service billing request through:
Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & support
You can ask Microsoft Billing Support to explain why the previous invoices were $0 and to identify the event that triggered the $72 charge. If the subscription was purchased through a Microsoft partner or reseller, please contact that provider instead, as they control the billing on their side.
