Import data manually
There are two ways to manually import data in Sustainability Manager:
Option 1: Manual data import of individual records
To manually import activity or water data, follow these steps.
In the left navigation, select Data, and then select Carbon activities, Water data, or Waste data.
Select one of the following, depending on the type of data:
- In the list of carbon activities list of scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emission sources, find the emission source.
- In the list of water data sources, select quality, quantity, or sample.
- In the list of waste data sources, select Waste quantity, Waste quality test result, or Waste test method.
Select View data from the source.
Select New.
Enter information in all required fields.
Select Save & Close.
To manually import reference data, follow the same steps with these differences:
- Select Reference data under Data settings in the left navigation pane
- Select a reference data source type
Option 2: Manual data import for bulk upload
To manually import large volumes of activity data, follow these steps.
In the left navigation, under Data management, select Carbon activities, Water data, or Waste data.
In the carbon activities list of scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emission sources, find the emission source. Or, in the Water data menu, select the source.
Select View data from the source.
In the top navigation pane, select the import type (Excel, CSV, or XML).
Select the source file.
Set the option to specify whether you want to allow duplicates.
Review the mapping.
Select Finish import.
For Scope 3 category 8 (upstream leased assets) and category 13 (downstream leased assets), you need to select the data subcategory to view the same bulk upload options described earlier.
To manually import large volumes of reference data, follow the same steps, but select Reference data in the left navigation pane, and select a reference data source type.

To update activity data records in Sustainability Manager, you must delete previously imported data and reimport all the data.
