The July 2024 release of Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability includes the following updates. Check back throughout the month for new updates and links to documentation as they become available.

Microsoft Sustainability Manager

This section provides information about release schedules, updates, fixes, and learning resources for Sustainability Manager.

Important

In general, updates start releasing around the first of the month with a staggered rollout to different countries/regions. Some updates aren't available until later in the month. Occasionally, we might have to delay an update to a future date.

We support versions of Microsoft Sustainability Manager that are version 2.18 or later. The July release is version 2.21. For more information, go to Supported versions.

Updates

This table shows the July 2024 updates for Microsoft Sustainability Manager. We update it with documentation links as they become available.

Feature	Description of update
Fewer required attributes in the data models	Microsoft Sustainability Manager now has fewer required attributes/columns for entities/tables in the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability data models. Learn more about the data models in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability data model overview. You can download a list of entities and attributes that shows which attributes are required from the Download Center.
National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) factor set	Sustainability Manager now includes the NGER factor set. These factors are essential for calculating greenhouse gas emissions associated with various activities, products, or processes. Learn more about factor sets in Emission factors.

Fixes

This table lists fixes included in this release.

Problem description	Resolution
The Retry job button doesn't appear on the calculation job page when there are errors.	This issue is fixed in the July release. If you have a previous release, you can select and then unselect a row in the grid to make the button appear.
Long durations for generating CSRD reports.	This issue is fixed in the July release. If you have a previous release, verify your data and try again.
You can't select multiple goals in the goal lookup in CSRD reports.	This issue is fixed in the July release.
When it fails, calculation profile creation shows a generic error message.	The message now provides more helpful information.
With the June release, editing a mapping for an existing Power Query data connection is broken, with no source fields being available for selection. This issue only affects the user experience of editing mappings for existing data connections. It doesn't affect running existing, unedited data connections or new data connections.	We released a fix for this issue. Be sure to install the latest version of Microsoft Sustainability Manager. To recover the connection without the fix: 1. Edit the connection. 2. On the Manage data source page, rename the Power Query query to refresh the connection map table. 3. Remap. 4. Complete the connection wizard sequence. Create calculation profiles	Created a new article with updated procedures. Added information in Add a calculation profile about filtering to explain the options you need to use for filtering activity data. Added a note in Retry calculations explaining that you can only retry an entire job, not a subset of the records.
Create calculation models	Put the Calculation profiles section into a separate article, Create calculation profiles.
Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability data model attribute list	Downloadable spreadsheet that provides a list of Cloud for Sustainability data model entities and attributes and details which attributes are required in Sustainability Manager.
Shared data model required attributes	Changed the Entity/attribute rules table to show only the attributes that are required based on business logic for other attributes. Added a link to a downloadable spreadsheet that contains all entities and attributes and delineates which attributes are required.
Carbon data model required attributes	Changed the Entity/attribute rules table to show only the attributes that are required based on business logic for other attributes. Added a link to a downloadable spreadsheet that contains all entities and attributes and delineates which attributes are required.
Water data model required attributes	Removed the Entity/attribute rules table and replaced it with a link to a downloadable spreadsheet that contains all entities and attributes and delineates which attributes are required.
Waste data model required attributes	Changed the Entity/attribute rules table to show only the attributes that are required based on business logic for other attributes. Added a link to a downloadable spreadsheet that contains all entities and attributes and delineates which attributes are required.
Supported versions	Updated with supported versions for July.
