    Hi Theresa Tunender

I understand you’re having trouble removing a verification email address that you can no longer access and replacing it with a correct one for your Outlook.com. Could you confirm:

    • Are you able to sign in to your Microsoft account at all right now, or are you blocked at the send code to the old email step?
    • Do you still have any other verification method on the account (Authenticator app, another email, passkey)?

    Please follow these steps:

    Replace the unreachable verification email

    • Go to the Microsoft account Security page
    • Add a new verification method (an email you can access)
      • Select Manage how I sign in (or Advanced security options)
      • Choose Add a new way to sign in or verify, then add a new email address you can access
    • Verify the new email, then remove the old one
      • After the new email is verified, return to the same page
      • Expand the old email method and select Remove

If sign-in keeps trying to send a code to the old email (and you can’t get in)

    • On the verification prompt, select “I don’t have any of these” to start replacing your security info
    • Important: If all old security info is removed and replaced, the account may be placed in a restricted state for 30 days, and this waiting period can’t be expedited.

Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!

To replace a verification email address that no longer exists, first add a new, working email as security info, then remove the old one.

Follow these steps for a Microsoft work or school account security method:

    1. Sign in to the My Account page at https://myaccount.microsoft.com.
    2. Select Security info from the left navigation pane.
    3. Select Add method.
    4. In Add a method, choose Email, then select Add.
    5. On the Email page, enter the new email address (not a work or school email), then select Next.
    6. Enter the verification code sent to that email and select Next. The new email is now added as a verification method.
    7. Back on the Security info page, find the old Email entry (the one that no longer exists) and select Delete next to it.
    8. Confirm by selecting Yes. The old verification email is removed.

If signing in prompts for a code to the old email and it can’t be accessed, select I don't have any of these on the verification screen and follow the prompts to update security info. Be aware that removing or replacing all security info can put the account into a restricted state for 30 days while the change is processed.

For a personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com/Hotmail, etc.) verification method:

    1. Go to the Advanced security options page of the Microsoft account (via account security settings) and sign in.
    2. Expand the verification option that shows the old email.
    3. Select Remove.
    4. Select Remove again to confirm.
    5. Before removing all old methods, ensure a new email or phone is added so the account is not left without security info.

If the old email shown during verification is not recognized or the account cannot be accessed, use the account recovery flow and choose I don't have any of these when prompted for verification options, then follow the steps to recover and update security info.
