whenever im trying to use instagram on my pc and i trya and video chat someone my camera works then it just randomly shows black

Perform these steps on Windows to troubleshoot the camera going black when using Instagram video chat:

1. Test whether the issue is specific to Instagram
   1. Open Start > Camera and check if the preview works for a few minutes.
   2. If the camera stays on in the Camera app but goes black only in Instagram, the problem is likely with the Instagram app or its settings.
2. Check for Windows updates
   1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
   2. If View optional updates appears, select it and look for any camera or driver updates. Install them.
   3. Restart the PC using Start > Power > Restart (do not just wake from sleep).
3. Update the camera driver
   1. Select Start > Device Manager.
   2. Expand Cameras.
   3. Right‑click the camera device and select Update driver.
   4. Select Search automatically for drivers and let Windows install any found driver.
   5. Restart the PC and test again in Instagram.
4. Check for black screen / no video causes
   1. Make sure the camera lens is not blocked and is clean.
