Profile Merge Request
Hello Microsoft Credentials Support Team,
I have two Microsoft certification profiles with expired certifications. One profile has AZ-104 and the other has AZ-305.
I have access to both accounts and would like to merge both profiles under my primary Microsoft Learn account. I also need guidance on renewing/reactivating both certifications so I can obtain/maintain the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
For security reasons, I will share my account details privately if required.
Thank you.

2026-05-20T14:06:13.1+00:00 To consolidate the certifications and understand renewal options, two separate topics apply: merging the Microsoft Learn profiles and renewing the expired certifications.
- Merge the two Microsoft Learn/certification profiles
Merging is done by linking the login accounts; when a login account that already has a Learn profile is added to another profile, a merge is triggered.
Follow this high-level process (using the account that should become the primary destination):
- Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile that is intended to be the primary profile (the one that should ultimately hold AZ‑104 and AZ‑305).
- Select the profile avatar (top-right) → Settings.
- Under Account Management, select Add login account.
- Sign in with the other account that currently holds the other certification.
- Because that login account is already associated with a different Learn profile, this will trigger a Profile Merge. All learning progress, credentials, and transcripts from that profile will be merged into the signed-in profile, and duplicates will be removed.
Important details about profile merge:
- All learning progress, credentials, and transcripts from both profiles are combined into a single profile.
- Sign-in remains possible with all login accounts from both profiles.
- Editable information (display name, interests) can still be changed later.
- Merging cannot be undone.
- If adding the account would exceed the limit of five work/school login accounts, the merge is canceled and that limit must be resolved before retrying.
If there are more than two profiles, repeat the “Add login account” step from the primary profile for each additional profile that needs to be merged.
If any issue occurs during merge (for example, problems with login accounts or profile data), contact Credentials Support for direct assistance: see the Credentials support resource in the references.
- Renewal/reactivation of AZ‑104 and AZ‑305
Certification renewal behavior is as follows:
- Role-based associate, specialty, and expert certifications that have been available for more than six months can be renewed by passing a free renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn.
- Renewal is only possible before the certification expires. The renewal window opens 6 months before the certification’s expiration date.
- Once a certification has expired, it cannot be renewed via the renewal assessment. To hold that certification again, the required exam(s) must be passed again.
Applied to AZ‑104 and AZ‑305:
- If AZ‑104 and AZ‑305 are already expired, they cannot be renewed via the renewal assessments.
- To regain those certifications, the required exams must be retaken according to the current certification requirements.
Regarding the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification:
- Expert-level certifications do not automatically expire when a prerequisite associate certification expires; each certification has its own renewal and expiration.
- However, if the expert certification itself has expired, it must be re-earned by following the current certification path and passing the required exam(s).
- When to contact support
For any of the following, contact Credentials Support:
- Problems merging profiles (for example, accounts not recognized, merge not triggering, or issues with legal name data).
- Questions about specific certification status, expiration dates, or current paths to re-earn AZ‑104, AZ‑305, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
Use the Credentials Support entry in the references to reach the appropriate support channel and provide the Learn Username and any relevant exam/certification details privately and securely.
