Microsoft Advertising does not want to exploit or profit from unexpected high-impact events. As a result, Microsoft may remove or limit advertising in response to a tragedy, natural disaster, public emergency, death, or high-profile news event such as an act of terrorism or war, particularly if advertising:
- May appear to exploit events for commercial gain.
- May be considered inappropriate, especially given certain events or circumstances.
- May affect user safety (for example a product recall).
Restrictions may include prohibiting:
- Use of key words related to the sensitive event.
- News article content advertising related to the event.
