Additional assignment-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Hi @Brenda Edins,
Thank you for your response. I’m glad the initial issue with accessing assignments has been resolved. Regarding to your new concern, where assignments show as assigned to no team members even though you selected all members, this usually points to a sync or permissions issue between Teams and the Assignments app. Here are some steps you can try:
1/ Verify Team membership Sync
- Go to Teams > Right click on your Teams and choose Manage Team > Members and confirm that all intended users are listed as members (not guests).
- If you recently added members, allow some time for the sync to complete. Sometimes it can take up to an hour.
2/ Clear Teams cache and reset app
Cached data can interfere with assignment syncing. Follow the steps based on your Teams version:
Classic Teams
- Quit Teams:
- Right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar and select Quit.
- Open the Run dialog:
- Press Windows logo key + R.
- Enter this path and click OK: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
- Delete all files and folders in that directory.
- Restart Teams.
New Teams
Option 1: reset the app
- Open Settings (type “settings” in the search box).
- Go to Apps > Installed apps, search for Microsoft Teams.
- Locate New Microsoft Teams, click More options (...) > Advanced options.
- Under Reset, select Reset.
- Restart Teams.
Option 2: Delete cache files
- Quit Teams:
- Right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar and select Quit.
- Open the Run dialog:
- Press Windows logo key + R.
- Enter this path and click OK: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
- Delete all files and folders in that directory.
- Restart Teams.
For reference: Clear the Teams client cache
3/ Recheck assignment settings
- After clearing cache, open the assignment and confirm the Assigned to field.
- If it still shows “No students,” click Edit, select the team or individual students again, and save.
4/ Test with a new assignment
- Create a new test assignment and assign it to all members to confirm if the issue persists.
