Hi, about a year or so ago, I wanted to learn another language (Hindi), so I installed the Hindi alphabet on my computer. Often, I'd switch back and forth between the English and Hindi alphabet. That phase in my life has passed, and I reverted my language settings to be fully English. However, when I download a new application onto my desktop (Krita), all the writing (syntax) is in Hindi, which I have previously avoided. I went into my desktop settings and uninstalled Hindi, hoping that it would solve the problem; it didn't do anything. This got even worse when I started using Outlook on my desktop. All the syntax was in Hindi, and I've already deleted Hindi from my operating system. That is why I am asking this today. I want to know if there are any other additional settings I am missing that pertain specifically to the syntax.

    Hi sahan pydah,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum! I completely understand how uncomfortable it can be when your apps suddenly switch to a language you no longer use. Let’s walk through the most common areas to check and see if there are any other additional settings:

    1 - Windows Display Language

    • Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region.
    • Make sure Windows display language is set to English.
    • If Hindi appears under Preferred languages, remove it.

    2 - Regional Format & System Locale

    • In Language & Region, set Regional format to English (United States or your preferred English region).
    • Then open Control Panel → Region → Administrative tab, click Change system locale and confirm it’s set to English.
    • Restart your PC after making changes.

    3. App-Specific Settings

    • Krita: Go to Settings → Configure Krita → General → Language and select English.
    • Outlook: Open Outlook → File → Options → Language, ensure Display language and Help language are set to English.

    4. Remove Language Packs

    • Check Settings → Apps → Installed apps for any Hindi language packs and uninstall them.

    5 - Advanced Settings

    • Go to Settings → Advanced keyboard settings and confirm Override for default input method is English.
    • Also check Settings → Apps → Advanced app settings → App language preferences.

    6. Microsoft Account & Office

    • Visit account.microsoft.com → Language settings and confirm English is your default.
    • For Office apps, verify File → Options → Language is set to English.

I look forward to receiving your update. Let me know which solution works for you or if your problem persists and you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment". Thanks for your effort.
