A free program from Microsoft that provides developers with the tools, resources, and sandbox environments needed to build solutions for Microsoft 365.
Hi @Tommie Bowman
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Based on your description, I understand that your M365 E5 developer tenant expired two months ago. You joined the program in May but didn't have a chance to activate or use it, and now you're looking for a way to extend it.
According to the official documentation for the Developer Program, all renewals are handled by an automated system. This system checks for qualifying developer activity to determine if a subscription should be renewed. Because the tenant wasn't used, the system did not find any activity and, therefore, did not renew it. Here are the steps you can take:
- Wait for Deletion: Since the account is already expired, you should delete the expired developer account profile. You will then need to wait 60-90 days for the system to fully purge your old information (like your phone number) from the backend. After that period, you might be able to register for the program again with the same details.
- Use New Information: If you need a sandbox urgently, the best and most recommended solution is to join the program again using completely new information (a new Microsoft account and a new, unique phone number).
Once you have a new subscription, I recommend you start performing valid development activities to ensure it gets renewed next time. You can find examples of qualifying activities in the official documentation:
This is the information I've found. I want to confirm one more time that the E5 Developer Program is based entirely on the automated system's evaluation, so following the activity criteria is essential.
If you need any more information, please let me know.
