I received the exact notification with the ***exact timestamp (*January 23, 2026, 11:07:58 PM UTC). Talked to a Microsoft Support Agent yesterday, couldn't resolve it immediately, but the lady told me that she had gathered a 'sufficient' number of screenshots and logs. Said she would be contacting the Sharepoint technical team, and get back to me with an update after 24 hours (which is roughly 12 hours from now).

All users in my organization had their OneDrive set to read-only and could neither upload new contents nor make changes to existing ones. The other products and services are running fine, and my M365 subscription status is still active and months away from renewal. I suspect this is an automated filter from OneDrive/Sharepoint backends that wrongly affected many organizations.

Greetings, Microsoft Team, Since August 2023, I have been using a Microsoft 365 E5 Developer Program sandbox tenant for development and testing only (no production or commercial workloads). My subscription dashboard shows the E5 Developer license as active, renewable, and several weeks away from expiration, and I recently received the standard renewal email, so the tenant should be healthy.

However, neither I as the global admin nor any of my test users can upload or modify files in OneDrive or SharePoint; all sites and libraries are effectively in read‑only mode. When checking the admin center, I noticed a banner stating that my organization’s use of Microsoft 365 has been identified as a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and that the subscription will be deactivated on March 18, 2026, with all SharePoint and OneDrive content blocked. This message appears even though the subscription status under Billing and the Microsoft 365 Developer Program dashboard still show the E5 sandbox as active and not suspended.

Because of this mismatch, I suspect that an automated Acceptable Use Policy or backend policy filter in the SharePoint/OneDrive infrastructure has incorrectly flagged my tenant. Similar issues have been reported where tenants receive an “acceptable use policy” blocking banner and OneDrive/SharePoint become read‑only, and Microsoft support advises raising a ticket from the admin center to restore access when the organization is not engaged in any prohibited activities. I confirm that this tenant is only used for legitimate development and testing scenarios in line with the Microsoft 365 E5 Developer Program terms.

I request that you please review my tenant, confirm whether the Acceptable Use Policy flag was triggered in error, and remove any enforcement that is blocking OneDrive and SharePoint (or clarify what specific activity triggered this so I can correct it). I would also appreciate confirmation that my E5 Developer subscription will remain active and that my eligibility for automatic renewal is not impacted.

I also created a Support Service Request (2603050030007965‎), please look into it, thanks

    Dear @Phong Bui,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Based on your description, the Q&A Assist mentioned some information what may happen to you in this case, and I am writing to clarify the issue you encountered when attempting to access your SharePoint or OneDrive site, which resulted in the message:

“This page has been blocked as it violates the Acceptable Use Policy.”

According to Microsoft’s official documentation, this message appears when any user within the organization accesses a SharePoint or OneDrive page that Microsoft has blocked due to a detected violation of the Microsoft Online Services Acceptable Use Policy.

Reference: Error "This page has been blocked as it violates the Acceptable Use Policy"

Microsoft enforces automated checks to ensure that all content and activities comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. If any activity is flagged as potentially prohibited, affected pages may be blocked.

Here are examples of prohibited activity (general Microsoft AUP categories):

While the documentation does not list specific activities in this scenario, violations typically include:

    • Hosting harmful or inappropriate content.
    • Automated or abusive traffic patterns.
    • Security‑risk behaviors.
    • Misuse of service beyond permitted tenant scope (for example, Developer Program tenants used for production).

Therefore, Microsoft’s article above provides the required steps to restore service:

    • If you believe your organization is not involved in prohibited activity, you will need to submit a support request.
    • Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Choose Support > select Help & Support > type "Acceptable use policy in the terms of use error" in support search bar.

    • Provide Microsoft Support with:
      • The error message received.
      • The affected tenant domain.
      • Any relevant context about recent changes or usage.

Once submitted, Microsoft Support will review the case and, if the block was triggered incorrectly, they will assist you further.

Also, I hope for your understand in this case, Microsoft Q&A Forum moderators do not have the right to access personal environment to check and fix it directly due to security protocols. Only Microsoft Support team can do it for you, please kindly contact them as soon as possible.
