Hi @James Massa,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I’m sorry to hear that the recent update has disrupted your mail flow. I know how inconvenient it can be when new emails suddenly stop appearing, especially when you rely on Outlook for day‑to‑day communication. The good news is that, in classic Outlook for Windows, this type of behavior is often related to a connection state or a sync setting that can usually be corrected with a few checks.
To help me better understand what’s happening and guide you more effectively, could you please confirm the following:
- Do you see the missing emails when you sign in to Outlook on the web?
- What type of account are you using in Outlook (for example, Outlook.com/Hotmail, Gmail via IMAP, a POP account or work/school account)?
In the meantime, I recommend trying the steps below, starting with the simplest and most common causes:
1/ Make sure the Inbox isn’t filtered:
- Check all folders (Inbox, Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive) and ensure your inbox filter is set to All (not "Unread" or another filter).
Check Focused / Other tab (if Focused Inbox is enabled), emails may land in Other. You can also temporarily turn Focused Inbox off to test.
2/ Test Outlook in Safe Mode to rules out add-ins:
- Press Win + R and type: Outlook.exe /safe then press OK
If Inbox appears in Safe Mode, an add-in is the likely the cause. In that case, disable add-ins in normal mode and re-enable them one by one.
3/ Check Work Offline mode:
If Outlook is offline, it may not show/sync your latest mail.
In Outlook app, go to Send/Receive tab at the top > make sure Work Offline is not enabled

4/ Repair the Outlook data file (if you use PST/POP or local data)
If your account uses a .pst file (common with POP accounts), repair it with Microsoft’s Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE). You can see this official guide: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost) - Microsoft Support
I hope these steps are helpful. Please try them and let me know how it goes. If the issue continues, please reach out again and let me know and we can work together to get this resolved.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and I look forward to continuing the conversation.
