I see a charge on my Paypal account for $139.41 on 02/08/2026 that I'm not showing in either of my accounts. Both of my accounts are showing inactive without subscriptions. I don't want to pay for another subscriptions while I'm showing a subscription was just paid. How can I resolve this?

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, the subscription charge was billed to a different Microsoft account. Kindly follow the guide on the official Microsoft website to investigate and locate the charge from Microsoft on this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-investigate-a-billing-charge-from-microsoft-398c5328-364c-d5e4-ea8f-f5ad60562a93

If you're able to find the transaction and if this happens to be a forgotten subscription renewal, you can check if it is eligible for a refund through this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-get-a-refund-on-a-microsoft-subscription-67dca30b-b323-44d5-acc2-e02f9902c472

You may also try contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance in tracking the transaction:

    https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=S.HP.SmcContactUsLanding

Type "Billing Issue" > click "Get Help" > Scroll down to Sign in to Contact Support > Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Payment Updates > Confirm > Chat with a support agent in your web browser

If you and the Support Team are unable to find the transaction in all of your accounts, you'll need to contact your financial institution/bank directly to dispute it, and they may process a refund, as this would be considered a fraudulent charge.

You may also need to have your card blocked and request a new one.

Thank you for your understanding! Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

To resolve the unrecognized $139.41 PayPal charge and avoid paying for another subscription:

    1. Check for subscriptions and order history
      1. Sign in to each Microsoft account at the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      2. Verify there are no active or recently renewed Microsoft 365 or other subscriptions and look for any past-due items. If a subscription is past due, it can still generate charges when payment finally succeeds. For details, see the guidance on past-due subscriptions.
      3. Review your order history for each account to see if there is a matching $139.41 charge or a charge close to that date. If there are fewer charges in the last months than expected for the billing cycle, it may not be a duplicate charge.
    2. Investigate the PayPal charge in Microsoft’s billing tools
      1. Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882.
      2. Locate the PayPal payment method that was charged.
      3. Select Investigate next to that payment method to search for other Microsoft accounts or subscriptions using that PayPal funding source and to identify what the charge was for. Learn more.
    3. Common reasons for a charge that does not appear obvious The charge may be due to:
      1. A Microsoft subscription with recurring billing enabled on a different or family member’s Microsoft account using the same PayPal.
      2. A previously declined or past-due charge that was successfully processed later.
      3. An in-app or game purchase, or another Microsoft Store purchase, billed through PayPal.
    4. If the charge is not recognized after investigation
      1. Use the Investigate flow on the Manage your payments page to continue the guided troubleshooting for unrecognized charges.
      2. If the investigation shows the charge is fraudulent or tied to an account or subscription that should not be active, remove PayPal as a payment option from that account and change the Microsoft account password.
      3. If the charge is clearly unauthorized or cannot be matched to any Microsoft account or subscription after using the investigation tools, dispute the transaction directly through PayPal.

Until the charge is fully understood, avoid purchasing or renewing another Microsoft 365 subscription so that duplicate coverage is not created. Once the investigation shows which subscription (if any) was renewed by this charge, either keep that subscription active or cancel it according to the product’s cancellation and refund rules.
