I have been facing a problem long time that I am unable to put on numbering in my word document. In the video when I try to type (a), after I finish typing it and try to click spacebar, the (a) disappears and after I try for the second time, it still appears like that. What can I do to deal with this bug? Many thanks!

Go to Word> Preferences> AutoCorrect — AutoFormat As You Type to confirm that the boxes are checked for Automatic bulleted lists & Automatic numbered lists.

If that doesn't provide the expected result please provide the present Version Number & type of License indicated in Word> About Microsoft Word in the main menu bar.

There is no programmatic approach. If you provide what has been requested there is more than an aggregate of 50 years of Word experience at your disposal, but we have to have something to work with. That's the most effective means of resolving the issue.

A more stable way of doing numbering is described by John Korchok. See https://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2016/06/outline-numbering-in-word-for-os-x/
