HOW DO I GET AUDIO FROM MY NEWLY SETUP PIONEER DDJ-FLX4 CONTROLLER, TRIED THROUGH BOTH MY DESKTOP PC, & IOS (IPAD) PLATFORMS WITH NO SOUND PLAYING? I HAVE SOUND PLAYING FINE JUST THROUGH MY PC AUDIO WITH UE HYPERBOOM SPEAKER? WHAT AUDIO SETTINGS SHOULD I BE USING ON MY WINDOWS 11 PC PLATFORM? WHAT AUDIO SETTINGS SHOULD I BE USING FOR MY IPAD AIR 13" PLATFORM, WITH EITHER NEW EDIFIER MR4 SPEAKERS (THAT I HAVENT HEARD ANY SOUND AT ALL FROM SINCE SETTING THEM UP NEW A WEEK AGO), OR THROUGH A 2ND UE HYPERBOOM SPEAKER I HAVE AS ANOTHER AUDIO OPTION FOR MY PIONEER DDJ-FLX4 CONTROLLER? I ALSO HAVENT EVEN ANY SOUND THROUGH MY NEW AUDIO-TECHNICS ATH-PRO5X HEADPHONES (CONNECTED TO DDJ-FLX4 FRONT HEADPHONE PLUG). I CAN GET THE REKORDBOX PROGRAM TO PLAY ON MY PC, BUT NO SOUND COMES THROUGH & AM UNABLE TO GET THE CONTROLLER ITSELF TO BE IN CONTROLL, SO IM STILL UNABLE TO ACTUALLY USE THE DDJ-FLX4 CONTROLLER ITSELF. IM NOT A COMPLETE LEARNER WHEN IT COMES TO AUDIO SETUPS ETC, THOUGH IM BRAND NEW TO THE DDJ-FLX4 PLATFORM OF DJ'ING. I USED TO DJ ON VINYL IN MY YOUTH, & I WAS HOPING TO GET GOING ON THESE BUT IM NOT HAVING MUCH SUCCESS. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO OR SUPPORT IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. CHEERS.

    Hi Claire Roberts,

I know it’s frustrating to not being able to get sound on your DDJ‑FLX4, especially when you were eager to get back into DJing. The Code 45 error you shared indicates that Windows isn’t detecting the controller at all. That’s likely the root of the issue, so here are some steps you can try:

1 - Fully power‑reset the controller and PC

    • Shut down Windows and unplug the DDJ‑FLX4 USB cable from both ends.
    • Power off the controller > wait about 2 minutes and restart PC.
    • Plug the DDJ‑FLX4 directly into a USB port on the PC.

    2 - Try a different USB cable/port

    • Use another USB‑C cable that supports data, not just charging
    • Use rear motherboard USB ports or front case ports.

Once the DDJ‑FLX4 appears normally in Device Manager without the Code 45, let me know then we can go forward with the sound issue (if it still persists), and other setups.

On Windows 11, first confirm that the DDJ‑FLX4 is recognized as an audio device and then set it as the default output/input for your DJ software.

    1. Check sound settings and outputs
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Output, select the DDJ‑FLX4 (or its audio driver name) as the output device. This ensures Windows sends audio to the controller instead of the PC speakers.
      3. Under Input, if needed, select the DDJ‑FLX4 as the input device.
      4. In the taskbar, select the Speakers icon, then the Select a sound output (>) arrow, and make sure the DDJ‑FLX4 is selected there as well, not UE Hyperboom or the monitor.
      5. Open More mixer settings from the volume icon and verify that the DDJ‑FLX4 output is not muted and has volume.
    2. Set the correct default device
      1. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. In Output, choose the DDJ‑FLX4 as the device. This also sets it as the default output device.
      3. If an external monitor without speakers is selected as default, change it to the DDJ‑FLX4 or to the speakers you want to use.
    3. Verify drivers and Windows audio
      1. Press Win + X > Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers and confirm the DDJ‑FLX4 (or its audio driver) appears without warning icons.
      3. If there is no audio device or it shows issues, update or reinstall the audio driver:
        • Right‑click the device > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
        • If that fails, right‑click > Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device, then Uninstall and restart the PC so Windows reinstalls the driver.
      4. If audio problems persist, try the generic Windows audio driver via Device Manager > right‑click the audio device > Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer and select the generic driver.
    4. Check device enablement
      1. Right‑click the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Open More mixer settings and ensure no relevant outputs are muted.
      3. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      4. Under Advanced, select More sound settings.
      5. On the Playback tab, select the DDJ‑FLX4 (or the speakers connected to it) > Properties.
      6. Under Device usage, ensure Use this device (enable) is selected.

Once Windows is sending audio to the DDJ‑FLX4, connect the Edifier MR4 speakers or UE Hyperboom to the appropriate output from the controller (per Pioneer’s instructions) and use the controller’s headphone jack for the ATH‑PRO5X. In the DJ software, select the DDJ‑FLX4 as the audio device and map master/headphone outputs according to the controller’s documentation.

iPadOS audio routing and specific Pioneer/Rekordbox configuration are not covered in the provided Windows‑focused context.
