stuck "prove you're human" loop

Hi,

I got locked out of my microsoft account for violating terms of service. This happened after I attempted to use Copilot to create an image for a presentation - all I asked was for it to "remove the robot" from the image.

I have tried repeatedly to sign back into my account. But I cannot get past the "prove you're human" button. I press and hold repeatedly and every time it just tells me to "try again." How do I get access to my (personal) account again (I am writing this from my student account)?

The account is blocked by Microsoft’s automated protection systems and the “prove you’re human” step is not completing, so use the official unblock and recovery flows and avoid repeated attempts that can extend the block.

    Follow these steps:

    1. If the sign-in page shows no Next button
      • When signing in, if Next is missing and the page mentions a violation or suspicious activity, the account is locked.
      • Use the link in the window that begins with aka.ms/ and follow the instructions to submit the reinstatement form. A Microsoft Online Safety agent will review it and contact by email. Do not submit multiple forms, as that can slow the response.
    2. If the issue is a general account block / “prove you’re human” loop
      • The account may be temporarily blocked due to unusual activity, high volume of requests, or a Terms of Service violation.
      • Go to the Microsoft services account reset page to check status and follow on-screen steps to reactivate.
      • If there has been recent verification via text or a large amount of sharing, the block can clear automatically within 24 hours.
    3. Reduce further lockouts and verification blocks
      • Avoid repeatedly pressing the verification or “prove you’re human” control; repeated attempts can be treated as suspicious and extend or renew the block.
      • If seeing “Try another verification method” or similar blocks:
        • Try a different verification method already on the account (alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
        • Try signing in from a different network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or use another trusted network).
        • Wait at least 24 hours without further attempts; if still blocked, wait longer (up to a week) before trying again.
    4. If verification codes or methods are blocked
      • If a “usage limit exceeded” or “try another verification method” message appears, the phone/email may have hit rate limits or been flagged as suspicious.
      • Use the guidance in Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues and, if offered, run the sign-in helper from that article to identify the specific sign-in issue and available support options.
    5. If still unable to sign in
      • Use the sign-in helper link from the verification-code troubleshooting article to walk through a guided troubleshooter and see any available support or escalation options for the personal account.
      • For Outlook.com-specific access issues, use the “Still need help?” support entry point described in the Outlook.com unblock article if sign-in is possible at all.

Until the automated block clears or the reinstatement form is approved, direct support agents cannot manually override the lock for a personal Microsoft account.
